Railway Union’s 12-Hour Warning Strike Affects Transdev Train Lines in North Rhine-Westphalia

The call by the GDL railway union for a twelve-hour warning strike this Saturday affects eleven train lines of the Transdev railway company in North Rhine-Westphalia. The warning strike should last from 2:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., as the German Locomotive Drivers’ Union (GDL) announced on Thursday evening (October 20).

Four lines of the Nordwestbahn with a focus on Paderborn and Bielefeld (RB 74, 75, 84, 85), four lines of the Rhine-Ruhrbahn on the Lower Rhine and from Essen to Coesfeld (RE 10, 14, RB 31, RE 44), the regional train are affected Cologne-Mainz RB 26 as well as the S-Bahn connections Minden-Haste (Lower Saxony) and Paderborn-Hannover Airport.

The Nordwestbahn affects the Senne Railway between Paderborn and Bielefeld, the Egge Railway between Paderborn and Kreiensen, the Haller Wilhelm between Osnabrück and Bielefeld and the Oberweser Railway between Höxter-Ottbergen and Göttingen.

The GDL is demanding 555 euros more wages and a reduction in weekly working hours to 35 hours with full compensation for shift workers. GDL federal chairman Claus Weselsky criticized the employers for not improving their previous offer of an eleven percent wage increase, according to a statement.
