Railway employees suspended after discovery of ‘man cave’ on …

Three New York rail workers have been suspended after installing a ‘man cave’ under the famous Grand Central Station. The hideout under the subway tracks had a TV, a fridge to store beer, and a sofa. The three hung out while they were supposed to be at work.

The railway workers would have discovered the empty space under track 114 by chance and decided to make it a cozy place, including a television, refrigerator with cold beer, microwave oven, table and seat. They often went to the place when they needed to be working.

The hideout was eventually discovered after the Inspector General of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) received an anonymous tip. It stated that there was a so-called ‘man cave’ with a seat, a flat screen TV and a refrigerator where railway workers “hung out, drank and party”. It is not known how long the three men have been using the space.

All three of them denied ever being in the room, but unfortunately for them, their fingerprints were everywhere. There was also plenty of other “crushing evidence” that they used the site as a meeting place. For example, a WiFi connection was installed and their names could also be found on a number of things.

Dangerous

The hidden space was also dangerous, according to authorities. It was not indicated on the maps, so rescuers would not get there quickly if something happened, such as a fire.

The three have been suspended and will not be paid. They will also have to justify themselves.
