Raid on Dresden lawyer Hannig

Dresden. The Dresden lawyer and city councilor for Free Voters Frank Hannig is apparently having trouble with the judiciary again. His office and private apartment were searched last week. Hannig himself confirmed this in a short message on his website. He does not provide any further information there with reference to his duty of confidentiality vis-à-vis his client. Now it is speculated, however, that he himself is the client.

The first suspicion was expressed by “lateral thinking 351” organizer Marcus Fuchs at the lateral thinker demo on Monday evening. There Hannig had been announced as a speaker on the open microphone. Fuchs excused the lawyer by pointing out that Hannig had a lot on his mind at the moment, and also addressed the searches. Fuchs also speculated about a connection between the measure and Hannig’s speech at a rally in Schmalkalden in Thuringia on the previous Monday.

In the evening, the Dresden public prosecutor’s office confirmed the search measures to the SZ, but without giving the reason. It therefore remained unclear whether Hannig is an accused or a witness in criminal proceedings.

The public prosecutor’s office in Kassel is investigating against the Dresden defense attorney for inciting false suspicion. It’s about Hannig’s defense of Stephan E., the now convicted murderer of Kassel’s district president Walter Lübcke. The defendant E. had testified in his murder trial before the Frankfurt Higher Regional Court that Hannig had thought up incriminating co-defendant Markus H. In media reports, however, there is also speculation about suspicion of money laundering in the past.

Hannig could not be reached on Wednesday to comment. Only a few weeks ago he announced that he would run as an independent candidate for the Bundestag.
