Rahm, García and Cabrera, in the first World Cup, to be played in Florida

The Canary Rafa Cabrera will play the WGC at The Concession, the first tournament of the world series to be played in Bradenton, Florida, February 25-28 and that replaces the México Championship, suspended by the Covid-19. Cabrera will be the third Spaniard to play this first great event of the year with Jon Rahm and Sergio García, classified by the top 50 of the world ranking.

Cabrera has achieved his place by being classified in the top 10 of the Race to Dubai on February 15. As this weekend there is no tournament on the European Circuit, the current ranking is now final and Rafa occupies seventh place after the Desert Tour, where he was 4th in Abu Dhabi and made a good cut in Dubai and Saudi Arabia.

The resident canary in Dubai ensures his 16th consecutive participation in a World Championship and the 25th total (Remember that the world series are the pending subject of Spanish golf, without a victory yet).

Cabrera’s best result was a third in the WGC Match Play in 2016 and a fifth in the HSBC Champions in 2017. In this first World Cup, his best performance was a third in 2018, in Mexico City.

The defending champion is Patrick Reed, which he won last year at the Chapultepec Golf Club, a few days before the Covid-19 pandemic forced the cancellation, postponement or relocation of all sporting events in the world.
