Algeria – National Navy Aljazair detected the Israeli Dolphin submarine last week off the shores of Algerian international waters. The Israeli submarine was then pursued and surrounded by the Algerian Navy.

“Algerian forces then pursued and forced him to rise to sea level before finally leaving the area,” said the MENADEFENSE report on Friday (1/10/2021).

This became known after Russian journalist Darko Todorovski disclosed information about the incident in a tweet on Thursday, “Off the coast of Algeria, an Israeli Dolphin-type submarine tried to track the launch of the Club-S cruise missile training from the submarine project 636, but in turn, the submarine (Israel) was found and chased by two project 636 submarines. They forced it to the surface and left the area.”

“The exercise, which involved many units of the Algerian navy, was intended to demonstrate the capability of deep sea attack or stealth destruction of targets at sea at great distances,” the news portal detailed.

According to MENADEFENSE, “The Israeli Dolphin-class submarine was spotted by passive detection, tracked and forced to surface in international waters and leave the area. The decision was taken quickly to pursue it aggressively without using sonar to avoid counter detection.”

After the Israeli submarine was surrounded by an Algerian submarine with two planes over the water, the crew of the Israeli submarine decided to surface, “to show that they abandoned the mission and moved away from the Algerian coast.”
