Qur’an recitation, bank calling contests continue in Saudi Arabia; 2,116 to the second phase

Riyadh: The number of those who qualified for the second stage of the second international Quran recitation and bank call competition organized by the Saudi Public Entertainment Authority reached 2,116. Turki Alusheikh, head of the authority, said that these people were selected for the second round from the more than half a million people who registered in the first phase for the competitions held under the name of ‘Attarul Kalam’ (Perfume of Words).

Alushikh said that the youngest contestant was five years old and the oldest was 104 years old. The total prize money for the winners of the competition, which is attended by 165 countries from all over the world, is 1 crore 20 lakh riyals. The competition aims to find beautiful sounds in the recitation of the Qur’an and the call of the bank. Alusheikh also said that this is the world’s largest prize money in the Quran recitation and bank call competition.
