Quentin Tarantino Scraps Plans for His Final Film

Renowned Director Quentin Tarantino Cancels His Final Film

Quentin Tarantino, the legendary filmmaker, has decided to abandon his plans for his 10th and final film. After months of preparation for his project, “The Movie Critic,” Tarantino has had a change of heart, according to inside sources from the film industry. Tarantino, known for his distinctive style, initially wanted to create a film inspired by a cynical movie critic from his childhood. However, the project underwent various transformations, eventually becoming a film featuring actor Brad Pitt, who portrayed the character Cliff Booth in Tarantino’s previous film, “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.” Speculations arose regarding whether this movie would serve as a prequel or a sequel to “Hollywood.” However, Tarantino has now completely distanced himself from the project, surprising many in the industry. The film was scheduled to shoot for one day in August to qualify for a $20.5 million California Tax Credit, but all plans for production have been abandoned since then.

Latest of Many Project Ventures That Didn’t Come to Fruition

Unlike Tarantino’s previous films, “The Movie Critic” did not have a studio attached to its production. It joins the long list of Tarantino’s projects that have fallen by the wayside, including an R-rated “Star Trek” movie that he had been working on for Paramount, which never came to fruition. Despite speculations about Sony, the studio that released “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,” being a potential contributor to Tarantino’s latest venture, no formal agreement was in place to support this claim.

Retiring on a High Note

Quentin Tarantino has been vocal about his intention to retire from directing after his 10th and final film. With a filmography that includes nine highly-acclaimed movies (counting the two-part “Kill Bill” series as a single feature), he has expressed his desire to complete his career at the pinnacle of his success. He has been quoted in past interviews sharing his view that directors tend to decline with age, and he wants to maintain a legacy of exceptional movies rather than ending his career with something mediocre.

Future Endeavors

Although “The Movie Critic” will no longer be a part of Quentin Tarantino’s filmography, the celebrated director has plans to continue working in the creative industry. He has considered directing limited series or plays and has also unveiled his new venture into the world of novels with the publication of a novelization of “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” in 2021. The novel expands on the backstories and psychology of the characters, providing a deeper understanding of the film’s narrative.
