Quarantine in Colombia: schedule and who can exercise with the new decree

At Decree 1076 of July 28, 2020, announced the announcement of President Iván Duque to extend the quarantine in the country until August 30, with 46 exceptions listed in the document signed by the Ministry of the Interior.

“Order the mandatory preventive isolation of all the inhabitants of the Republic of Colombia, from zero hours (00:00 am) on August 1, 2020, until zero hours (OO: OO) on September 1, 2020, in the context of the health emergency due to the Coronavirus COVID-19 “, says article one of the decree.

Who can exercise with the new decree?

In point 35 of article 3, in which the 46 exceptions to quarantine are cited, it says, “in accordance with the measures, instructions and schedules established by the mayors in their respective territorial jurisdictions, and in any case subject to the biosafety protocols established for this purpose, the following will be allowed:

The development of physical activities, outdoor exercise and sports practice individually people who are in the age range of 18 to 69 years, for a maximum period of two (2) hours daily.

The development of physical activities and outdoor exercise of children over 6 years old, three (3) times a week, one (1) hour up to date.

The development of physical activities and outdoor exercise of children between two (2) and five (5) years, three (3) times a week, half an hour up to date.

The development of physical activities and outdoor exercise of adults over 70 years, for a maximum period of two (2) hours daily.

Adults over 70 years old

After the failure of a guardianship imposed to protect the equality rights of adults over 70, These will have the same hours of people who are in the age range of 18 to 69 years.

“For the sake of applying the confinement rule without any distinction in the terms of this sentence, these people will have a restriction of the development of physical activities and exercise outdoors for a maximum period of two (2) hours daily, equal to that of people who are in the age range of 18 to 69 years, while reaching the aforementioned consensus, “says the decree.

What can not be done?

Under no circumstances in municipalities or cities with moderate or high virus involvement, sports and group exercise may be carried out in public parks and recreation areas, contact sports or practiced together.
