Quarantine in Bogotá: 7 towns in the city go into isolation – Bogotá

Bogotá will enter a new phase of quarantine by locality. This scheme that has been applied since July 13 will remain in force until August 30, integrating sectors that had not been in isolation and repeating the period for others.

They are Usaquén, Chapinero, Teusaquillo, Puente Aranda, Antonio Nariño, Santa Fe and La Candelaria. Seven localities that will enter quarantine on Sunday, August 16, and they would have to remain in isolation until August 30.

With this new schedule 1,280,000 inhabitants of Bogota will go into quarantine.

(Also: This pandemic will last one more year: Claudia López).

Claudia López explained that This measure is due to the number of infections and deaths and the speed of spread of the virus in these localities, and that despite the fact that a return to this scheme had been ruled out at first, the peak of the pandemic requires more isolation.

The president stressed that this measure has shown a positive impact on the contagion figures, which is why this decision was made. It has to be said that in the beginning nine locations were contemplated, which included Los Mártires and Barrios Unidos, the latter was dropped from the list because it is currently in quarantine.

“I ask the residents of Barrios Unidos not to lower their guard, to be very careful and not to leave home if it is not necessary,” López said.

The new schedule seeks to reduce the number of people circulating in Bogotá. Claudia Lopez It has been emphatic that the city cannot have more than seven million people on the streets simultaneously, this because although the indexes have remained stable, it is important that citizens continue to stay at home.

In this new schedule Usaquén, La Candelaria and Teusaquillo will enter. These locations were not included in the quarantine period that will end tomorrow.

Chapinero, Santa Fe, Puente Aranda and Antonio Nariño will have to return to quarantine for another fourteen days.

It should be noted that this isolation will operate the same as the March drill. The inhabitants of these localities will only be able to leave their homes for five basic activities, in addition, unified command posts will be installed and massive tests will be carried out.

What if I live in one of these locations?

Remember that such a quarantine it works like the mandatory confinement experienced in March. In other words, the restriction is total and, broadly speaking, it will only be possible to leave under the following circumstances:

1. Supply and acquisition of food, pharmaceutical, health and basic necessity products. To obtain it, only one person per family unit may travel.

2. Provision of administrative, operational or professional services of public and private health services.

3. Institutional or home care of the elderly, people under 18 years of age, dependents, sick people, people with disabilities or especially vulnerable people, and of animals.

4. Public order, general security and health care.

5. Address issues of force majeure or extreme necessity, circumstances that must be accredited if the authority so requires.

This applies only to the days and areas where there will be strict quarantine. In the rest of the city, the more than 40 exceptions of the National Government will apply, only the five that the District defined.
