Quantum Error: Almost Finished Development, Xbox Version Pose Challenges

The horror first-person shooter Quantum Error was already announced at the beginning of 2020, and at that time it could only boast that it was aiming for the not-yet-released PlayStation 5 console or using Unreal Engine 5. It was also tempting to set the game in space and use Lovecraftian elements, which, among other things, worked for fans of the Dead Space series, but before the development of Quantum Error came to an end, not only the spiritual successor in the form of The Callisto Protocol, but also the remake of the first part. Now, developers from TeamKill Media say that their game is almost finished, but the Xbox version is a bit of a problem.

The developers of Quantum Error originally expected to be released only on the PlayStation 5, but later the game lost its exclusivity when the Xbox Series version was added, and later it started to be included in the PC version as well. According to the developers, the goal was that everyone could enjoy the game regardless of the platform, which, of course, did not please some. Even this time, the Xbox Series version can cause embarrassment, as it will most likely face certain limitations. The developers were asked on Twitter about the state of development, which according to them should be somewhat surprisingly nearing its end. Despite the development that has been going on for a few years, we haven’t seen much of it directly from the game recently, so it is not known what the game looks like in the current version. However, everything is supposed to be almost done and is being optimized for each version.

One problem is that the game was originally developed only for the PlayStation 5 and with the SSD of that console in mind, but it has to be limited in the case of the Xbox Series and the slower SSD. For that reason, it will most likely be necessary to keep the game with loading screens, while the PlayStation 5 version will do without them. The developers said that they approach each of the versions specifically, and therefore it will offer and use different technologies, in the case of the PC version currently being developed, it is supposed to be an as yet unspecified offer from Nvidia. However, we should expect an announcement soon, perhaps a release date or dates, as well as new gameplay videos that will hopefully show the game in action again. For now, we can at least recall the 18-minute video with which Quantum Error presented itself in 2021.
