Qualcomm is preparing a response MediaTek Dimensity 820. Reedus

The American processor giant Qualcomm is preparing a new mid-budget processor, whose name is still unknown. He will compete with MediaTek Dimensity 820.

Qualcomm’s full domination of the smartphone processor market is over. If earlier any competitors showed much lower performance, now the American company has begun to lag behind the Chinese. For example, in the mid-budget segment, Qualcomm has already lost its lead after Huawei showed its Kirin 820, and now the recently introduced MediaTek Dimensity 820 showed maximum performance among sub-flagships.

The Snapdragon 765G was supposed to be Qualcomm’s main mid-budget processor until the presentation of its receiver later this year. However, due to the activity of the Chinese, Qualcomm is preparing a replacement for it much earlier. The network has the test results of an unknown smartphone Qualcomm Lito for ARM64 in the Geekbench benchmark. In the single-threaded test, the smartphone processor earned 3036 points, and in multi-threaded 7110 points. That result is about 10% better than the Snapdragon 765G. It is worth noting that according to statements MediaTek Dimensity 820 37% faster than its competitor.

Of course, this is the result of only a test sample, the commercial version can be much more powerful. The benchmark also reveals that the smartphone will run on Android 10 and have 8 GB of RAM.

Also in the Chinese social network Weibo it is reported that the upcoming Qualcomm novelty will receive eight cores divided into three clusters. The first will have two high-performance Cortex-A76 cores with a frequency of 2.71 GHz, the second – the productive one will receive two Cortex-A76 cores with a frequency of 2.34 GHz, the third – energy-efficient will acquire four Cortex-A55 cores with a frequency of 1.8 GHz.

The presentation of the new Qualcomm processor may take place in June.
