QNAP introduces TL-D800C and TL-R1200C-RP

QNAP today announced two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type C JBOD chassis models. On the one hand the desktop model TL-D800C with a total of eight bays and on the other hand the rack mount model TL-R1200C-RP for NAS, PCs and servers with 12 bays and redundant power supply.

All owners of a QNAP NAS can use the TL-D800C and TL-R1200C-RP. The company explicitly points out that the setting of RAID parameters and the creation of a storage pool with the QTS storage and snapshots app are possible with the new devices. Alternatively, the TL-D800C and TL-R1200C-RP can also be used as an external NAS storage device. The desktop utility QNAP JBOD Manager can be used with the Windows operating system as well as with MacOS and Ubuntu. Here, users are able to call up information about the state of the NAS and the fan speed, among other things. It is also possible to search for new firmware updates using the software mentioned.

The TL-D800C and TL-R1200C-RP are supplied with a USB Gen 2 Type C to Type A cable. Furthermore, an additional USB Gen 2 Type-C to USB Gen 2 Type-C cable for hosts with a Type-C interface can be purchased commercially. Both the TL-D800C and the TL-R1200C-RP also support remote transmission. According to QNAP, the hard drives can alternatively be treated as individual external storage space. The TL USB JBOD supports 3.5-inch or 2.5-inch SATA hard drives.

According to QNAP, both the new TL-D800C and the TL-R1200C-RP are now available in stores. The TL-D800C is currently being offered by various retailers between 450 euros and 620 euros. The TL-R1200C-RP is just under 1,000 euros. However, there are currently only two dealers who offer the TL-R1200C-RP but do not have it in stock.
