Defense Minister Qiu Guozheng went to the Foreign Affairs and National Defense Committee of the Legislative Yuan on the 6th, and prepared questions on the special report on “Strengthening the National Defense Force Structure Adjustment Plan and Extending the Compulsory Service Period and the Complementary Measures and Preparation Planning Report”. Facing a question from Kuomintang legislator Jiang Qichen, he asked whether our country has stored US military ammunition? Qiu Guozheng responded, “We are talking about it.” Ammunition storage is an inventory of the national army’s combat readiness. Whether there is foreign ammunition or not, we will also review it ourselves, and we don’t have to wait for the US military to intervene.

Jiang Qichen continued to ask Qiu Guozheng, whether the United States will store ammunition originally stored in South Korea, Japan, and the Philippines in Taiwan, turning Taiwan into a reserve for US military equipment? Qiu Guozheng emphasized that this is also under discussion. As for which type of ammunition has the most? Qiu Guozheng said that it is inconvenient for him to explain publicly, “I will explain to the legislators in private.”

Regarding the possible visit to Taiwan by US House of Representatives Speaker McCarthy, Jiang Qichen was concerned that the level of military exchanges between Taiwan and the US has been raised to the “battalion level”. Qiu Guozheng responded that there is no such consideration at present, and he has not heard of any relevant actions from the United States, but he emphasized that the military exchanges between Taiwan and the United States are uninterrupted.

In addition, the revision of the “Full Movement Law” has caused a lot of controversy, especially for the sixteen-year-old youth to go to the battlefield. Qiu Guozheng took the initiative to explain to the public that even if someone asked about the old issue many years ago, after all, the current state of the two sides of the strait cannot be tolerated by the Ministry of National Defense. Vague explanation; it is absolutely impossible for a sixteen-year-old student to go to the battlefield, because enlisting in the army is something after the eighteen-year-old, how could it be possible, and the sixteen-year-old asked him to get a gun. I am still afraid of these people coming, there is no such thing at all matter.

Clarify that the revision of the “Full Movement Law” is not for the purpose of calling underage students to the battlefield. Qiu Guozheng emphasized that the national army must enlist in the army after the age of 18, and soldiers have to wait until they are enlisted before they have guns. How could they have not enlisted yet? Going to shoot targets without any training, target shooting must be strictly regulated let alone combat. As a soldier, I am against combat, but we cannot afford to be unprepared.
