Qatar MotoGP Qualification Results: Jorge Martin Pole, Third Marquez, Quartararo Scattered All

KOMPAS.com – Pramac Ducati rider, Jorge Martin, managed to be the fastest in the qualifying session MotoGP Qatar 2022.

Qualification MotoGP Qatar 2022 at the Lusail International Circuit will take place on Saturday (5/3/2022) evening WIB.

Jorge Martin gets pole position MotoGP Qatar 2022 after carving a lap time of 1 minute 53.011 seconds during qualifying.

This result made Martin managed to repeat his achievements at the Doha MotoGP last season.

Martin will later start the Qatar 2022 MotoGP race from the front grid with Enea Bastianini (Gresini Racing) and Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda).

The two race winners at the Lusail Circuit last season, namely Fabio Quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha) and Maverick Vinales (Aprilia Racing) were scattered outside the top 10.

Fabio Quartararo as the MotoGP world champion last season had to start the Qatar GP race from 11th place.

On the other hand, Maverick Vinales, had to start the Qatar 2022 MotoGP race from 19th place.

Quoted from the Sky Sports Italia website, it was Maverick Vinales’ worst performance in the history of MotoGP qualification at the Lusail Circuit.

Last season, Maverick Vinales with Monster Energy Yamaha always managed to occupy the front grid, precisely in third place in two races at the Lusail Circuit, namely the Qatar MotoGP and the Doha MotoGP.

The course of the Qatar 2022 MotoGP Qualification:

Qatar 2022 MotoGP Qualification opens with the Q1 session. Some of the top riders who have to start from Q1 are Andrea Dovizioso (WithU Yamaha RNF), Maverick Vinales (Aprilia Racing) to last season’s MotoGP world champion, Fabio Quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha).

The fastest rider in the FP4 session, Johann Zarco (Pramac Racing), also has to start the Qatar 2022 MotoGP Qualification from Q1.

Fabio Quartararo had to struggle from Q1 after only being able to rank 11th in the combined results of the first to third free practice (FP) Qatar 2022 MotoGP.

At the beginning of the Q1 session, Fabio Quartararo managed to lead with a lap time of 1 minute 53.654 seconds.

Quartararo took the lead, followed by KTM Red Bull’s Brad Binder, who had a lap time of 1 minute 53.705 seconds.

Towards the end of the Q1 session, Dovizioso’s teammate, Darryn Binder, crashed at Turn 2.

Quartararo and Binder ultimately qualified for Q2 after none of the drivers managed to beat their lap times until the end of Q1.

However, the two traded positions at the end of Q1. Brad Binder became the fastest rider in the Q1 session after carving a lap time of 1 minute 353.512 seconds.

Continuing to the Q2 session, Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda) and Joan Mir (Suzuki Ecstar) were the two riders who entered the track first.

Marc Marquez immediately took the lead after the Q2 session lasted five minutes. Marquez became the fastest in the first third of the Q2 session thanks to a lap time of 1 minute 53.566 seconds.

Exactly in the seventh minute of the Q2 session, Jack Miller (Ducati) managed to beat Marc Marquez’s lap time. Jack Miller successfully took over the leadership of the Q2 session after carving a lap time of 1 minute 53.411 seconds.

Knowing Jack Miller’s lap time, Marc Marquez immediately applied the mirroring strategy on his second try.

Strategy mirroring what is meant is Marc Marquez stalking right behind Jack Miller.

The strategy proved successful after Marc Marquez managed to carve a lap time of 1 minute 53.283 seconds.

The lap time record made Marc Marquez lead the Q2 session. In the last two minutes, Marc Marquez had to drop to second place.

Marc Marquz dropped after his position was taken over by Pramac Ducati rider Jorge Martin, who managed to carve out a lap time of 1 minute 53.011 seconds.
