Fear is reportedly growing between Russia’s military and Vladimir Putin. Meanwhile, Ukraine claims it regained thousands of square meters during the war.

Kiev / Moscow – What is the situation in the disputed areas of Ukraine? Allegedly, Russia is struggling with the military conflict in the neighboring country due to the declining morale of its troops.

The Kremlin is no longer sending newly assembled troops to the crisis region because Russian army volunteers are shocked by the recent increase in the number of casualties. Under the impression of the numerous deaths in the ranks of the Russian Federation, many soldiers would refuse to serve in the war in Ukraine.

War in Ukraine: Declining morale in Russia? Kiev reports land gains

However, it is not clear to what extent the published thesis is true: it is a statement by the Kiev general staff regarding the observation of the enemy. Unsurprisingly, there is no confirmation from the Russian point of view. Both sides in the conflict in Ukraine accuse each other of manipulation and disinformation campaigns.

Meanwhile, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke of the reconquest of the territories occupied by Russia and said that no less than “6000 square kilometers” were occupied in the counter-offensive. According to him, Kiev’s forces largely routed Russian troops in the Kharkiv region. However, this coincides with Russian reports that a “strategic withdrawal” has occurred (more information in the news).

Ukraine: Russian army withdraws from Kharkiv – attackers near Donetsk “destroyed”

The first signs of success against the invaders had already been indicated last week. The problem from the Russian point of view: the Moscow Kremlin army has apparently left a lot of war material: heavy equipment, weapons and ammunition. The seemingly successful counter-offensive in Kharkiv fuels hopes of the Kiev government for a breakthrough in the war in Ukraine.

Meanwhile, however, Russia is also enjoying success in the Donetsk People’s Republic: Denis Puschilin, leader of the Moscow-controlled Donetsk separatists, confirmed an attack by Ukrainians at Donetsk airport. According to his descriptions, however, the attackers were destroyed.

The first reports of the attack had already been published on Saturday. Since then, the front between the separatists and the Ukrainian army has passed through the airport, which was destroyed in 2014. A successful attack by Ukraine would have meant the first advance into the separatist area of the People’s Republic proclaimed by Russia. (PF)
