Putin signed a decree on retaliatory sanctions

Authorities of the Russian Federation, organizations and individuals were banned from making transactions with companies and citizens that fell under Russian sanctions.

On Tuesday, May 3, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on retaliatory measures against the actions of the United States and “foreign states and international organizations that have joined them,” Russian media reported.

The decree provides for a ban on authorities, organizations and individuals “to make transactions (including the conclusion of foreign trade contracts) with legal entities, individuals and organizations under their control, in respect of which special economic measures are applied.”

It is forbidden to carry out “financial transactions, the beneficiaries of which are persons under sanctions”, and to export products or raw materials from Russia in favor of those who fell under Russian sanctions.

The list of persons subject to sanctions, the government must approve within 10 days.

Meanwhile, the European Union is preparing to approve sixth package of sanctions against the Russian Federation at the next meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council next week.-
