Tangerang (ANTARA) – The Health Office of the City of Tangerang Banten through the Kunciran Health Center in Pinang District held a month of school child immunization (BIAS) to prevent various diseases that can cause disability and death.
Dr. Darsono as the Head of Kunciran Health Center in Tangerang, Friday in his statement revealed that immunization is essentially an effort to increase the human body’s resistance. In particular, for children of elementary school age or equivalent grades 1,2, and 5.
“According to the recommendations of ITAGI (National Immunization Expert Advisory Committee), follow-up immunizations must still be completed according to schedule. However, because the month of immunization is affected by the pandemic, the schedule has been postponed throughout October, November, and December. Of course, it must continue in the midst of the limitations of the pandemic,” he said.
He also explained that during the routine immunization of BIAS activities, grade 1 children will be given a vaccine or immunization against measles, rubella and DT (Diphtheria Tetanus) which is a continuation of the immunization that children have received at the age of 18 months. While grades 2 and 5 were given TD immunization or Tetanus Diphtheria.
“The implementation of BIAS will be carried out in schools by observing health protocols. Technically it is regulated by the Puskesmas in coordination with the School and the Regional Task Force. Meanwhile, information related to BIAS is carried out by the school to the target parents,” he said.
He also invited the whole community, especially principals and elementary school teachers in Tangerang City, in order to improve the health status of children to be invited to school to be given immunizations for BIAS activities.
“Hopefully, this immunization activity can help the children of Tangerang City grow well and have a healthy and quality body,” he hoped.
