The Health Department reported Monday that the number of hospitalizations for COVID-19 stood at 104 after several weeks when the number remained below one hundred.
Of that number, eight patients are confined to an Intensive Care Unit and only one is connected to an artificial respirator.

Meanwhile, confirmed positive cases increased to 1,638 with an additional 13, while probable positive cases stood at 5,612 with 40 recently infected and another seven that had not been reported with a sample date of May 9-21.
Salud added that COVID-19 deaths remained at 153 after no deaths associated with the disease were reported.
“Without additional fatalities, the total number of confirmed deaths is 59 and the probable deaths are 94, so the total number of deaths is 153. It is important to remember that any death recorded after the report is issued will be reflected in subsequent reports” , the agency quotes in a press release.
Health defined as probable death that death of a patient who was diagnosed with COVID-19 by means of a serological test (not diagnostic) or that his doctor registered death by clinical criteria when evaluating the symptoms. While confirmed deaths involve people who tested positive for a molecular (diagnostic) test.
Similarly, the term confirmed positive case refers to infections whose results were validated by means of a molecular test. Likewise, the probable case refers to that positive result for the disease that was obtained through serological testing.
