Puerto Rico adds 897 positive cases and 44 deaths from coronavirus



Cases of coronavirus COVID-19 soared to Sunday at 897 after the Health Department confirmed that an additional 109 people tested positive for the disease.

While, deaths from the virus were placed at 44 after the death of two men from the Ponce and Caguas region, respectively.

The official explained that the most recent victims of the disease were 70 and 77 years old, respectively, who were kept in care after testing positive for COVID-19, but their clinical pictures were complicated.

Meanwhile, of the total of new cases, 107 were reported by private laboratories, one by the Public Health Laboratory and another by the Veterans Hospital.

It was reported that 471 of those infected are men and 426 are women. The number of tests carried out amounted to 7,973, of which 5,819 have returned negative and 1,251 are still awaiting results.

From the data provided by Health it appears that the municipality with the most reported cases continues to be San Juan with 120, followed by Bayamón and Guaynabo with 42 each. However, the agency does not yet have the town of 322 cases available.

Regarding ages, the group with the most reported cases is that of 50 to 59 years with 201 cases. It is followed by 40 to 49 years old with 165 infected people and 60 to 69 years old with 132.
