The Public Prosecution Service has filed Gordon’s report against editor-in-chief Evert Santegoeds Private shelved. According to the singer, there is libel because the journalist published private conversations with his ex Gavin.

The OM says that the case has been dropped because Santegoeds is a journalist. “And a journalist must be able to be critical and independent at all times.”

In addition, it counts for the OM that Gordon “brought some things about his relationship to the outside world,” says the spokesperson. “So it is not a private domain, but a public matter. Then freedom of expression applies.”

The OM also believes that “for the most part it is established” that there is no libel and slander. “It is not about any particular concrete fact, but is general and too indefinite.”

Gordon filed a complaint against Santegoeds in June for sharing private conversations between Gordon and his ex-boyfriend Gavin. The Privateeditor-in-chief had, according to the singer and presenter, taken “no account at all” of his privacy. Therefore, Gordon accused the journalist of libel and slander.

“The threats and hurtful comments that followed publication have brought me to the edge of the abyss,” said Gordon, who announced in April that he and Gavin had split after a relationship of several months.
