The recent increase in the number of infections by Covid-19 is causing some apprehension in the president of the Association of Public Health Doctors, Ricardo Mexia, who admitted today, in an interview with Rádio Renascença that Portugal may soon reach two thousand cases per day, and in this context, a new confinement scenario cannot be excluded.
“The trend will be in that direction”, admitted the representative of Doctors of Public Health about the possibility of Portugal reaching two thousand cases a day soon. Against this background, a new confinement may be inevitable: “If there is no change in approach, I don’t see many alternatives. If we do not have the capacity to welcome patients, I do not understand how we can control the situation ”, said Ricardo Mexia to Rádio Renascença.
This associative leader emphasizes that “we are very apprehensive about this continuous increase, mainly with the difficulty that the units are having in achieving all tasks”, highlighting a particular concern with the “lack of reinforcements”.
