Cult hero Eric Addo is back at PSV, the people from Eindhoven have announced. The now 41-year-old former defender from Ghana will start in the youth academy of his old club.
Addo will do an internship at the PSV Academy: the former defender can gain experience as a specialist trainer at De Herdgang. The O13, O14, O15 and O16 will have to deal with the Ghanaian, PSV reports via its own website. Whether Addo is eligible for a longer employment contract after his internship is not yet clear to the people of Eindhoven: he will in any case be given ‘the space to get his trainer’s papers’, it sounds.
With Addo, PSV has acquired a crowd favorite. The Ghanaian came over from Club Brugge in 1999, never grew into a fixed value, but remained under contract with PSV until 2009. After 82 games in ten years, he left for Roda JC, the club that already hired him in the meantime. The 45-time international from Ghana ended his career in 2012 with fellow townsman FC Eindhoven.
