Sony’s next console will be almost as heavy as the PlayStation 3.
A few weeks ago, Sony formalized the design of its future generation of console. Two models are on the program; a version with disc player and another 100% digital. Since then, technical information about them has continued to appear on the web, voluntarily or not. If we do not yet know the official price of the two consoles, we know that they will weigh a certain weight.
The PlayStation 5 product sheet has indeed appeared on Amazon Germany, revealing the weight of the next-gen console from Sony. If we already knew that it would be larger than its ancestor, the PlayStation 4, we did not yet know its weight. It is now done. The PS5 will weigh 4.78 kg, almost double the PS4 (2.8 kg and 3.3 kg for the PS4 Pro). A weight similar to the PlayStation 3 which weighed 5 kg.
If Sony’s next-gen console is actually heavier than the current one, it’s for good reasons. The PS5 will indeed integrate a whole more imposing cooling system which should make the console less noisy – point on which the PS4 has often been criticized.
And the console is not the only one to gain weight since the DualSense controller which succeeds the DualShock 4 will also be more imposing. The PS5 controller will be 7 cm wider, 2 cm thicker and 4 cm larger. It will also gain 210 g compared to the PS4 controller.
Secondary information for some players who are impatiently waiting to know the price and the official release date of the console which should be released at the end of the year, but which still allow you to get an idea of what the console will look like in his living room.
