Fines
“In 2018 and 2019, approximately 230 fines were issued annually for unnecessary noise production, such as non-compliance with the maximum noise level by motorcycles,” Minister Van Nieuwenhuizen wrote to the Lower House at the beginning of this month. “About 200 fines have been issued for these offenses so far this year.”
In addition, the muffler can be confiscated in case of noise violations. The same applies to the entire motorcycle, in the event of gross speeding or traffic-hazardous behavior.
The ministry does not have any figures on the number of complaints about noise pollution. “The police do not keep separate records of such complaints either.”
