Prophecy alert for brake failure in some Nissan vehicles

The Federal Consumer Prosecutor’s Office (Profeco) reported that the Japanese company Nissan made an appeal to consumers in Mexico that they acquired the 2019 model Murano vehicle, as it presents problems with the brake system.

Profeco pointed out that the vehicle has a possible damage to the anti-lock braking system (ABS) actuator pump seal, which could cause brake fluid leaks and cause the warning light to come on.

If the vehicle continues to be operated in this condition, the leakage of brake fluid can create an electrical short in the ABS actuator circuit, which in rare cases could cause a thermal incident.

The company Nissan Mexicana indicated that the ABS actuator and brake fluid change should be replaced.

It was also notified that there are 424 units marketed in Mexico with failures, so the ABS actuator must be replaced.

It should be noted that the revision, change of part and labor will have no cost for consumers.

The recommendation to consumer owners is to immediately contact Nissan Mexicana and provide the Vehicle Identification Number (NIV) to confirm if your unit requires service action.

The agency invites consumers who have made a change of ownership to report, through the means indicated, the contact details of the current owners.

Previously, on July 20, 2020, Nissan indicated that 99,124 units sold in Mexico, of the Tiida, NP300, Urvan, Versa and March models, from the years 2017 and 2018 have a malfunction of the ignition “switch”.
