(August 30, 2022) Munich – With a short cinema spot, which will be shown in numerous cinemas in Bavaria from Thursday, the Bavarian Ministry of Agriculture wants to stimulate thought and dialogue and promote greater understanding in society. “Working in the agriculture and food sector is essential for everyone. We want to make this visible and promote appreciation for the work of our farmers,” said Minister of Agriculture Michaela Kaniber.
The corona pandemic and the Ukraine war suddenly made many people aware of how important it is to have a secure supply of healthy and sustainable food from the region. “It seems natural that we have something to eat on our plate every day. But that’s not the case,” stressed Michaela Kaniber. “It is our farmers who provide our food every day. They deserve the utmost respect for that,” said Kaniber.
“As the Ministry of Agriculture, it is our job to create the conditions for our farms to have a future. This also includes bringing agriculture back into the center of society,” Kaniber continued. “This is the only way we can create mutual understanding, do away with prejudices and promote dialogue between consumers and farmers.”
In urban areas in particular, there are more and more people who have no direct contact with practicing farmers. The aim of the cinema commercial is to bring them into contact with agriculture in an unconventional way when they go to the cinema. “During production, it was important to me that real farmers were involved in the spot. You are representative of the many people in Bavaria who help to ensure that what is taken for granted remains a matter of course!” says Kaniber.
