Am Department of Medicine at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main The following position is to be filled as soon as possible in the civil service or employment relationship: This professorship is located in the Center of Surgery at the Clinic for Cardiovascular Surgery (Director: Univ.-Prof. Dr. Thomas Walther) and represents the vascular and Endovascular surgery in all its breadth in research, teaching and patient care. As part of clinical activities, the professorship is linked to the management of the vascular and endovascular surgery focus at the University Hospital Frankfurt.

Prerequisites for employment are a university degree in human medicine, a doctorate, a habilitation or proof of equivalent scientific achievements, which may also have been achieved as part of a junior professorship or outside the university area. In addition, the specialist certification for the field of “vascular surgery” as well as the ability to carry out further training must be demonstrated. Many years of experience in the care of patients suffering from vascular surgery and proven operational expertise are required.

Experience in clinical management activities, especially in the areas of personnel, organization, budget, quality management and supervision, is expected, as is the willingness to work closely with all other clinics and institutes at the site. This includes, in particular, close cooperation within the Clinic for Cardiovascular Surgery and cooperation with the Clinic for Anesthesiology, Intensive Care Medicine and Pain Therapy, Cardiology and Angiology and Neurology, in accordance with the interdisciplinary character of modern vascular medicine. When treating diseases of the aorta, close cooperation with the Clinic for Cardiac Surgery and the Institute for Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology in the aortic team is desirable.

You are a proven personality in vascular and endovascular surgery with excellent and longstanding expertise in the field of open and minimally invasive vascular surgery including innovative interventional therapy methods. You have a research focus in vascular medicine and experience in the development and implementation of clinical and translational studies. We expect you to be willing to actively integrate into the existing structures and research profile of the medical faculty. Intensive scientific cooperation with the cardiovascular special research areas (SFB 834, TRR 267) and with the Cardiopulmonary Institute (CPI) is desirable. We would also like you to show particular commitment in teaching and to contribute to the implementation and design of innovative and practice-oriented teaching concepts as well as academic self-administration.
