As reported Reuters, Thursday (3/6), on June 2 yesterday, the chairman, Liu Jingzhen said that Sinopharm has the capacity to provide more than 1 billion doses of its Covid-19 vaccine to the world, or in other words for vaccine supplies outside China in the second quarter of 2021.
“Our annual production capacity exceeds 5 billion doses. This is our own capacity,” said Liu Jingzhen.
As for the need for vaccines within China itself, at the Global Health Forum of the Boao Forum for Asia, Liu Jingzhen said, with Sinopharm’s level of supply capability, it is assumed that the demand for vaccination for China itself has been met.
However, as to how many vaccines Sinopharm will provide free of charge to other countries through the COVAX vaccine facility program, Liu Jingzhen currently does not want to reveal details. Overall, China in February promised to provide 10 million doses of the Covid-19 vaccine to COVAX.
To note, two Sinopharm-produced vaccines are currently being used in China, one of which has received emergency use approval from WHO and a prerequisite for the vaccine to be included in the COVAX program.

Currently, according to Liu Jingzhen, Sinopharm has planned a manufacturing facility for the third injection, which is being tested in the early-stage clinical trial process.
