Princess Kusuma Wardani Faces Difficulty Breathing in Match Against Akane Yamaguchi at China Open 2023

Jakarta

Indonesian women’s singles, Princess Kusuma Wardani, admitted that he had difficulty breathing when faced with Akane Yamaguchi in the first round China Open 2023. He felt it at the end point of the second game.

This was said by Putri KW after playing a match at the Olympic Sports Center Gymnasium, Wednesday (6/9/2023). The 2022 Orleans Masters champion was immediately faced with a formidable opponent, Akane Yamaguchi.

After struggling for 37 minutes, Putri finally gave up on Akane, who was the second seeded player, with a score of 12-21, 21-18 in the round of 32 and failed to move on to the next match.

“Learning from the first meeting at the Indonesia Open yesterday, at that time I felt that I could only match up to 11 points. After that I felt very tired. Today I am more prepared to complain,” Putri said in a quick quote released by PBSI to reporters.

“Akane is a very strong and tenacious type of player. Earlier he tried to keep the ball away from me but I tried to limit it. I feel that today, I was quite able to read his balls. But it was in the final points of the second game I feel a bit suffocated,” he said.

“But so far I feel that my physical condition is improving, apart from that my playing pattern is slowly returning. And most importantly, my mind and mentality are getting ready,” he continued.

The Women’s defeat this time has made Indonesia’s women’s singles representatives in the BWF Super 1000 tournament certain to be finished. The previous day, Gregoria Mariska Tunjung, was also knocked out in the first round by unseeded badminton player Thuy Linh Nguyen 15-21, 14-21.

“Actually, I like to think about losing, but if the game is good, even losing doesn’t make you down,” said Putri.
