Prince Andrew has not finished hearing about Virginia Roberts. The one who claims to have undergone, when she was still a minor, a forced sexual relation with the son of the queen published a message heavy with direction for the new year.
The year 2019 has not been easy for Prince Andrew. The son of Elizabeth II experienced a veritable descent into hell after he was at the heart of rape accusations and the revelations of his links to the pedophile Jeffrey Epstein. One of the main plaintiffs is Virginia Roberts, 36, alleged “sex slave” to multi-millionaire American businessman who killed herself in prison in the summer of 2019. In 2015, she already claimed to have suffered sexual relations with Prince Andrew forced by Jeffrey Epstein when she was a minor.
As 2020 begins, Virginia Roberts posted on social media a message full of hope for all victims of abuse from the most powerful. “Happy New Year to all who want to see change!, she captioned a snapshot of her alongside her husband Robbie. Let’s make 2020 history as the year in which we brought down this 1% of people who thought they were above the law !!“It’s hard not to see a heavy wink of meaning addressed to the son of the queen.
The fall of the prince
To bring down the powerful, Virginia Roberts has already begun to pave the way. Prince Andrew has tried to deny the accusations altogether, to justify himself in a truthful interview with the BBC, his behavior and his multiple blunders will only have pushed it further. The scandal cost the deposed prince his royal career who, at 59, was forced by Prince Charles and the Queen to retire from public life.
The crown has taken precautions to prevent the controversy from lasting damage to its image. No more commitments, the Duke of York will have to keep a low profile and will no longer be able to represent Her Majesty during official trips. He may not even be able to accompany his daughter Princess Beatrice to the altar, who is getting married next spring to Edoardo Mapello Mozzi.
