Prime Minister Rutte calls the course of the Dam demo “irresponsible” Inland

The 1.5 meter rule is, according to the Prime Minister, “non-negotiable”. “I was shocked by the images,” says Rutte about the Dam demo. “The rules of conduct are there to defeat the virus.” He cannot say much about the situation in Rotterdam yet. “It seems appropriate to me that action has been taken.”

Holidays

The prime minister also has good news for all Dutch people: we can go on holiday again. “It is a different summer vacation than usual.”

From 15 June, the Dutch can go on holiday in steps to almost all countries in Europe and the Caribbean part of the Kingdom. Only for the time being “code orange” remains in force for Sweden and the United Kingdom. This means that unnecessary trips are not recommended.

Swedish epidemiologist Dr. Anders Tegnell, the great architect behind the unconventional policy with fewer restrictions, said today that Sweden should have approached it differently. Should the same virus show up now, Sweden would shift more to what other countries are doing with today’s knowledge, Tegnell said.

“Point to travel”

Germany and Italy will open immediately from June 15. The most popular holiday destination among the Dutch, France, probably between June 15 and July 5. It depends on what countries decide themselves. Paris has decided to lift border controls in the middle of this month.

Prime Minister Rutte calls on people to travel “wisely”. “It is unwise to visit full clubs abroad. Be well prepared for your trip and make sure you know the rules of the country well and stay informed. ” Dutch people who get into trouble on holiday are not repatriated.

Outside Europe, “code orange” will continue to apply. The prime minister asks people to consider going on vacation outside the high season. Europeans can also enjoy the summer in our country. People from Sweden and the UK are not welcome.

The Cabinet has also decided to fully open primary schools from 8 June.
