Primary school Weurt hit hard by omikron: four out of seven groups in quarantine at home | Beuningen

WEURT – No fewer than four of the seven groups at De Ruyter primary school in Weurt are in quarantine at home. Teachers are also at home because they have to quarantine or are infected with omikron. Only three groups of students came to school on Monday morning.

The children of two kindergarten classes were all quarantined at home last week as a precaution, says director Petra Veltman: “Then the train started rolling. There were even more infections over the weekend. To ensure safety, we have decided that two more groups of students will be quarantined.”

Immediately switch to online education

There are enough teachers to teach the students who came to school on Monday morning. Veltman: ,,So it wasn’t like: oh help. The advantage is that most teachers are fully vaccinated.”

Anyone who tests negative for corona, has no complaints and has had a booster longer than a week before the test, no longer has to quarantine since the relaxation.

The school in Weurt immediately switched to online education for the children who had to stay at home on Monday morning.
