Trainer Flick puts pressure on leadership – and calls for reinforcements

At least until summer, Hansi Flick is the responsible coach at FC Bayern Munich. The coach has now asked for reinforcements for his team in an interview.

Coach Hansi Flick urges FC Bayern Munich club management to take transfer activities during the winter break in view of the tense personnel situation. “We definitely need reinforcements,” said the 54-year-old who in the Thursday edition of the Süddeutsche Zeitung: “I am thinking of at least two players – definitely one for the defensive and maybe also for the offensive outside.”

Flick: “The personnel situation is really poor”

Flick had already started a lament in the training camp on Wednesday because national team player Serge Gnabry cannot train with the team because of Achilles tendon problems. “The personnel situation is really poor,” said the Bayern coach.

Flick noticed the lack of breadth in the available squad, “especially when you see how the competition has strengthened”. Bayern are three points behind RB Leipzig in third place in the Bundesliga. “With the current squad, we are not optimally positioned for the second half of the season in this injury situation,” warned Flick. Bayern start the second half of the season with an away game in Berlin against Hertha BSC on January 19.

“With Joshua Kimmich’s suspension, we currently only have ten established field players available for the start,” said Flick of the “SZ”. For highest goals and title wins, however, “you also need a squad that has enough substance and quality in depth”.
