Nabu Casa, the service behind smart home platform Home Assistant, increases the prices of the cloud subscription to 7.50 euros per month for European users. There will be an annual subscription that is cheaper.

Nabu Casa writes in an e-mail to users that the European subscriptions are also being overhauled. For the first time, it will be possible to pay for a subscription in euros. Previously, a monthly Home Assistant Cloud subscription cost $5 per month. Converted to euros and including VAT, this came to 5.61 euros. For European users, subscriptions will be automatically transferred to a European subscription from August 1. That will cost 7.50 euros per month. Users can now take out an annual subscription for the first time. That costs 75 euros per year.

The option to pay with PayPal will remain. Nabu Casa does not write anything about the possibility to pay with iDeal.

Nabu Casa announced already on in February raising prices from $5 to $6.50 per month. European prices were not yet known at the time. The company then said it would no longer offer PayPal as a payment method, but it will come back to that “after feedback”. Nabu Casa is the company that makes Home Assistant. With the subscription, users can access their Home Assistant installation via the cloud. This is not mandatory: many users also use their own DNS settings for this. Nabu Casa also has many subscribers who want to support the project financially.
