Price Decrease of Pertamax Fuel in Jakarta: Will Pertalite Follow?

Jakarta

PT Pertamina (Persero) has just reduced the price of non-subsidized fuel, aka Pertamax cs. The price of Pertamax fuel in Jakarta has fallen from IDR 14,000 to IDR 13,400 per liter.

Will this price decrease be followed by a decrease in the price of Pertalite?

Responding to this question, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Arifin Tasrif said that the price of non-subsidized fuel follows international oil prices. He said that oil prices were high but then fell.

“So if non-subsidized fuel is included, it’s free from the international oil price index. Yesterday oil was at US$ 92, once at US$ 96. Now it’s at US$ 86 so it fluctuates, the ups and downs follow fluctuations in international oil prices,” he said at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Jakarta, Friday (3/11/2023).

Arifin did not respond unequivocally to whether Pertalite prices would also fall. However, he said, the subsidized fuel price was still the same.

“But the subsidies remain,” he said.

Previously, the Director General of Oil and Gas (Migas) of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Tutuka Ariadji, said that the economic price of Pertalite or the original price was IDR 2,000 more expensive. If calculated roughly, the original price of Pertalite is IDR 12,000 per liter. Because, Pertalite is currently sold for IDR 10,000 per liter.

“The excess could be around IDR 2,000,” he said at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Central Jakarta, Wednesday (1/11).
