The Chilean Meteorological Directorate (DMC) reported that Between today Saturday night and early Tuesday morning, May 23, rainfall is expected in the Ñuble Region.

Between tonight and tomorrow, normal to moderate rainfall is forecast in a short period of time for the coast, coastal range and valley of the region. It should be noted that this condition is expected to be accompanied by winds with estimated speeds between 25 and 40 km/h on Sunday, May 21.

In consideration of this background and in coordination with the Regional Presidential Delegation of Ñuble, the Regional Directorate of Senapred updated and expanded the coverage of its Preventive Early Warning to regional due to a meteorological event, which is in force from May 18 and until the conditions of the event warrant it.

The update and expansion of coverage of this alert “is constituted as a state of reinforcement of surveillance, through the precise and rigorous monitoring of risk conditions and the respective vulnerabilities associated with the threat, coordinating and activating the National System of Prevention and Disaster Response (SINAPRED) in order to act promptly in case of emergency situations”.

The agency recommended that the population review and clean the roof and gutters of the houses; keep stormwater evacuation routes free of dirt and debris; avoid traveling on foot or in vehicles through flooded areas or roads; and avoid going into mountainous areas, rivers, lakes and the sea, especially when the weather conditions are unfavorable. As for the wind, stay away from power lines, large trees and billboards, as they could collapse due to this condition.
