Preventing Monkeypox, IDI Reminds People to Live Clean and Healthy

JAKARTA – The Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI) reminds the public to live clean and healthy (PHBS) as a preventive measure monkey pox . Especially at this time the disease is growing in the world.

Meanwhile, monkeypox vaccination as a secondary measure is not yet available in Indonesia. But in America there are already approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), namely Acam2000 and Jynneos.

“Vaccinations for healthy populations have not been recommended, there have been two FDA releases but no release from BPOM, will these be used in Indonesia,” said the Head of the Monkeypox Task Force, the Indonesian Doctors Association (PB IDI) Dr. Hanny Nilasari, SpK during a webinar on Friday, 5 August 2022.

“But we are optimizing, of course IDI will encourage the provision of vaccinations or things related to secondary prevention. The primary is PHBS, must avoid contact with animals and people traveling from abroad,” he added.

Previously, the Chair of the IDI Covid-19 Handling Task Force Prof, Dr. Zubairi Djoerban, SpPD KHOM explained that the use of vaccines for smallpox has indeed been proven to be used for monkeypox.

For its use it is not injected into the whole community. Where only for those who are at high risk.

“One of the risks is there is pericarditis or there is inflammation of the lining of the heart and there is also accumulation of fluid in the heart,” explained Prof. Zubairi.
