Prevent Happy Hypoxia, Self Isolated COVID-19 Patients Must Immediately Go to the Hospital When Symptoms Appear

Meanwhile, Professor Menaldi Rasmin, Professor of Pulmonology and Respiratory Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, University of Indonesia, said that happy hypoxia is a sign of lung involvement in the COVID-19 case.

“So if the COVID is still in the upper respiratory tract area, at the top like the nose or throat, it is not easy to have happy hypoxia, but if it involves the lungs, there is a possibility that it will be involved,” said Menaldi in the same press conference.

“So for people who have OTG (people without symptoms) but the cough persists, they start thinking and move to the hospital to ask if my lungs are involved,” he said.

Menaldi said lung involvement in the COVID-19 case could be seen from the persistent cough. Thus, he appealed to patients experiencing these symptoms to seek treatment immediately and prevent happy hypoxia from becoming fatal.
