State Main Electoral Authority decides to re-elect Spreng 7 due to irregularities that have occurred
St. Pölten (OTS / NLK) – Now the last result, which concerns the contests of the 2020 municipal council election, is clear: “The regional electoral authority has decided that there will be new elections in Ebreichsdorf, at Sprengel 7 (Unterwaltersdorf office),” announced state president and chairman of the state Main election authority Karl Wilfing after the recount of the municipality by the representatives of the country.
“We didn’t make this decision easy. But the re-counting by the members of the regional electoral authority with the support of the lawyers of the responsible department showed that there were irregularities in Sprengel 7 in the election results. We therefore decided to re-elect this sprinkle in Ebreichsdorf, ”continued Wilfing. Irrespective of this, the public prosecutor’s office in Wiener Neustadt investigates the 14 ballots found under unsettled circumstances.
In total, there were 19 challenges in 18 municipalities after the municipal council elections that took place on January 26. At yesterday’s meeting of the regional electoral authority, it was already decided that new elections had to be held in Alland, Schrattenberg and Perchtoldsdorf and that there would be a shift in the mandate in Zeiselmauer-Wolfpassing.
In those municipalities where the election must be repeated, the state government announces a new election date. This should take place before the summer. Until then, the current municipal councils will remain in office.
