Minister of Defense and presidential candidate number 2, Prabowo Subianto, and President Joko Widodo had dinner together or dinner at a restaurant in the Central Jakarta area. Presidential candidate number 1, Anies Baswedan, responded casually to the meeting.
“Yes, this is a minister and the president. Yes, that’s okay,” said Anies when met at Istora Senayan, Jakarta, Friday (5/1/2024).
Anies views meetings between the president and his ministers as normal. He didn’t mind the meeting either.
“These are the people on duty, one is on duty, one is serving as president, one is serving as minister, then there is a meeting, so that’s fine, there’s no problem,” he explained.
Photo of Prabowo and Prabowo’s meeting Jokowi tonight circulated among journalists. The meeting appeared to be at a restaurant.
The meeting between the two was confirmed by the President’s special staff coordinator, Ari Dwipayana. Ari said Jokowi and Prabowo were relaxing and trying Indonesian cuisine at a restaurant in the Central Jakarta area.
“Tonight, Mr. President relaxed for a moment trying Indonesian cuisine at the Menteng Thousand Flavors Restaurant. At dinner, the President was accompanied by the Minister of Defense, Mr. Prabowo Subianto,” said Ari to journalists.
Prabowo wore batik clothes, while Jokowi wore a white shirt and black trousers. The two of them were alone sitting at a table. Prabowo and Jokowi appear to be discussing something.
The Prabowo-Gibran National Campaign Team (TKN) had different views regarding Jokowi and Prabowo’s dinner moment. TKN considers the friendship a symbol of Jokowi’s support for Prabowo in the 2024 presidential election.
“Yes, the meeting and dinner are a sign that Pak Jokowi really supports Prabowo-Gibran,” TKN Secretary Nusron Wahid told reporters.
