President Joe Biden to Visit Israel and Jordan Amid Escalation in Gaza Strip

The Strategic Policy Coordinator at the US National Security Council announced that President Joe Biden will visit Israel and Jordan tomorrow, Wednesday, in light of the escalation in the Gaza Strip.

John Kirby said that the US President will also go to Amman on Wednesday to meet with King Abdullah II of Jordan, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas.

Kirby explained that the Amman meeting would focus on humanitarian aid and that Hamas “does not represent the Palestinians,” as he put it.

Earlier today, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken announced from Tel Aviv that Biden is scheduled to go to Israel on Wednesday, “to reaffirm US solidarity with Israel and our strong commitment to its security.”

He noted that Biden will once again make clear that Israel has the right to defend itself against Hamas.

Blinken said that it was necessary for aid to begin flowing into Gaza as soon as possible, and that the United States and Israel had agreed on a plan that would allow aid to reach civilians in the Strip.

Since the first day of the recent confrontation between Israel and the Palestinian resistance in Gaza, Biden announced his absolute support for Tel Aviv, and Washington also announced an air bridge to transport weapons and ammunition to Israel while sending soldiers and two aircraft carriers to the region.

For the 11th day in a row, the violent Israeli bombing of the Gaza Strip continues, resulting in the death of more than 2,800 Palestinians, in addition to thousands of wounded, destroyed homes, and the displacement of more than a million people.

The Israeli escalation came in response to the Al-Aqsa Flood operation launched by the Palestinian resistance on October 7, when its fighters stormed settlements around the Gaza Strip and launched bombings on Israeli cities and towns, resulting in the killing and wounding of more than 5,000 Israelis to date, in addition to families being captured. About 250 others.
