In recent times, energy companies have been racing to increase their prices, surpassing the set price ceilings. This development raises concerns about the challenges that consumers may face during the upcoming heating season.
In the short term, the impact may not be significant, as it largely depends on the severity of the winter. However, in the long run, a more significant problem is expected to arise. By not investing in stable energy sources, we are accumulating hidden debt. Until we can effectively store electricity generated from solar and wind power, we will remain dependent on stable sources. These sources must serve as backup, as the sun does not shine constantly, and the wind does not blow continuously. Building battery-powered plants in the dimensions of power plants is both environmentally and economically nonsensical.
According to the Green Deal, until we fully transition to renewable energy sources, gas should cover the energy gap. However, this alternative is proving to be much more expensive than initially anticipated. Sticking with coal may be a viable option. The catastrophe that politicians predicted, claiming that the only way forward was to eliminate coal and transition to a carbon-free economy, may not be as realistic as they thought. But what if the sun doesn’t shine and the wind doesn’t blow? The flaw in the Green Deal is that if this happens, we will have built gas power plants that will consume gas. Russian gas, to be precise.
According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, we are not currently dependent on Russian gas.
