In order to make it harder for possible attackers, you should keep the respective operating system up to date. Outdated software without the latest security patches pleases the attackers.-
For my Huawei device (Android 9) it works like this: Settings> System> Software Update> Check for Update. Upates can be found on an older Android tablet Settings> General device information. Depending on the manufacturer and operating system or version, the names may vary.
