It became known how Ukrainian soldiers are preparing for the cold season and what changes in the nature of combat operations at the front may occur during the cold weather. In an online broadcast, the head of the press service of the eastern group of troops, Ilya Evlash, noted that the onset of winter, of course, “will affect the course of military operations,” but everything will depend on the weather.
“If it rains, it will be one scenario, if the frosts hit immediately, it will be a different scenario. Since the ground will remain frozen, heavy equipment will be able to move on it. Fogs and rains will definitely affect the conduct of military operations.

Therefore, even unmanned aerial vehicles cannot be used in such weather. And aviation, both army and tactical, is, of course, much more difficult to conduct combat operations,” Evlash emphasized, quoted by UNIAN.
He added that Ukrainian defenders are preparing for cold weather, insulating dugouts and preparing equipment.
“Of course, this includes winterizing the equipment, changing oils, adding various additives to the fuel. There is also training in providing stoves, various means of heating and the like. Volunteers are quite a help – they provide heaters and various other necessary means with which our soldiers can keep warm during the cold season,” noted Jevlash.
As Reuters noted, Ukraine will face prolonged power outages next winter amid Russian missile and drone attacks that have already made parts of the power system less resilient than a year ago.
