Premier League approves Todd Boehly acquisition of Chelsea

London

Premier League has approved the acquisition process Chelsea which is conducted Todd Boehly. Now just waiting for approval from the British Government.

Previously, the process of transferring hands from Abramovich to the consortium led by Todd Boehly was delayed. The British government suspects the £2.5 billion that will be paid to take over the club will still go into Abramovich’s treasury.

Moreover, Chelsea’s parent company is known to owe Abramovich £1.6 billion through an investment company, even though the Russian tycoon has said he will not collect the money.

This condition then made Chelsea anxious because they were pressed for time to find a new owner, following the expiration of the British Government license on May 31. After being suspended for several weeks, this acquisition process has come to light.

Premier League as of Wednesday (25/5/2022) early morning WIB, officially gave its blessing to Boehly and his consortium to take over Chelsea from Abramovich’s hands. This is after the Premier League held a feasibility test to Boehly et al. taken to ensure the continued existence of Chelsea in the future.

“Premier League officials today approved the Chelsea Football Club takeover process by Todd Boehly/Clearlake Consortium. This purchase process is just waiting for approval from the British Government so that it can be completed soon,” said an official Premier League statement.

Now the Premier League and Todd are just waiting for approval from the British government, in the form of lowering the license required for the new owners to run the club.

“We are now increasingly confident that everything is ready to issue the license,” said a source within the British government.

This is certainly good news for Chelsea and fans who were nervous because of the uncertain fate of the club. As a result, Chelsea could not carry out club activities as usual and had to be willing to lose three core players whose contracts expired, one of them was Antonio Ruediger.
