He stabbed his 38-year-old companion and then got into the car, reached the Pistoia mountains and threw himself from a 36-meter high pedestrian bridge suspended over a precipice. It happened in the afternoon in Vaiano, in the province of Prato, where the woman’s body was found in the couple’s house and in Piteglio, a locality in the Pistoia mountains, where the man killed himself. The couple had a 2-year-old daughter whom the man had brought to his grandparents before killing his partner.

The investigations
To discover the woman’s body, in via Lavagnini in Vaiano, were the carabinieri who in the morning had investigated the suicide of the man in Piteglio. When they entered the apartment where the couple lived they found the woman’s body. It seems that the neighbors did not notice anything and probably the murder that took place at dawn. Then the victim’s companion would have gotten into the car and reached the Piteglio suspension bridge, a structure that has become a tourist attraction, which is about sixty kilometers from Vaiano. In 1990 the suspension bridge was listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the longest pedestrian suspension bridge in the world. The investigations are coordinated by Deputy Attorney of the Republic Carolina Dini.
