PR congratulates Félix Tshisekedi on his victory in the general elections – Jornal OPaís

The Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço, congratulated, this Tuesday,2, the president of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Félix Tshisekedi, on his re-election in the general elections of December 20 and 21, 2023.

In his message, the acting president of SADC states that his re-election reveals the trust placed by the Congolese people, who, by reappointing him to the highest High Judiciary in the DRC, demonstrates that he positively values ​​all political action and efforts undertaken for you and your Government over the last four years.

According to João Lourenço, this appreciation of the people goes towards reestablishing peace, stability and concord in the Democratic Republic of Congo, without which economic and social development projects will not have the possibility of being fully carried out, to the benefit of the prosperity and well-being of the Congolese.

He highlighted the orderly way in which the elections took place, as it was a manifestation of great political maturity on the part of the Congolese people, and therefore deserved great appreciation.

“I am certain that the renewal of Your Excellency’s leadership at the helm of the Democratic Republic of Congo is a guarantee that we will take fundamental steps towards the restoration of Peace in our sub-region, the strengthening of cooperation at the SADC level and the continuous strengthening of the existing cooperation relations between our two countries”, reads the letter.

He also wished every success in fulfilling the noble and honorable mission of leading the destinies of the Congolese nation in the coming years, which was given to him by the Congolese people.

According to the results released on Sunday by the country’s electoral authorities, Félix Tshisekedi was re-elected for a second five-year term, obtaining 73.34% of the votes, followed by Moïse Katumbi, former governor of Katanga (18.08% of votes), Martin Fayulu, leader of the opposition (5.33% of the votes) and Adolphe Muzito (1.12%).
