Powerful explosion at Bangkok airport

Several buildings in the neighborhood were damaged, and everyone who lives closer to the factory than 5 kilometers was evacuated after a fire broke out in a warehouse building. The factory, located right next to Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport, produces foam plastic.

Several hours after the explosion, the fire brigade said that the fire was under control, even though it was still burning in one of the warehouses. Thick black smoke rose from the place. The cause of the explosion is not yet known.

The company, which owns the factory, says around 50 tonnes of chemicals were stored in five or six warehouses on the site.

Local media reports that the first explosion shook the airport terminal, where the alarms went off. No departures were canceled
