Postal worker accused of stealing credit card to pay for cosmetic surgery – Telemundo New York (47)

A USPS worker is accused of stealing a credit card en route to Queens to pay for cosmetic breast lift surgery, according to authorities.

Shakera Small, 30, was indicted Wednesday night in Queens Criminal Court on charges of identity theft, grand theft and other violations for which she faces up to seven years in prison.

“The crime he is accused of was a betrayal of the public trust and an insult to the thousands upon thousands of postal workers who do their jobs with integrity,” said Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz in a statement.

Small allegedly used a forged Connecticut license in the name Christine Petrow to book a consultation at Long Island Plastic Surgery in Suffolk County.

On August 30, 2019, the defendant allegedly used the victim’s stolen card to pay the balance of $ 8,000 before undergoing the breast procedure four days later, according to the complaint.

The following month, the victim, a local business owner, received her credit card statement from Chase in the mail and discovered the shocking charge.

After reporting the fraud, a US postal inspector launched an investigation and obtained records from Long Island Plastic Surgery, where Small was identified through photos, according to prosecutors.

The image was shown to Small’s boss at the Rochdale Village post office, who confirmed his identity. The phone number Small provided to the clinic was also listed under his real name.

During an interview with investigators, the worker allegedly admitted to regularly stealing envelopes containing credit cards and handing them to a man named Rizzo, according to court documents.

Subject obtained false identification to help defendant undergo breast lift.
