Positive Case of Corona Sumut 1,467, Medan is still the Highest

Task Force for the Acceleration of Handling Covid-19 North Sumatra stated the number of positive patients corona virus reaching 1,467 people per Sunday (28/6). The most distribution is still in the city Field with 960 patients.

Spokesperson for the Covid-19 North Sumatra Coordination Acceleration Task Force, Whiko Irwan said the number of corona virus positive patients in North Sumatra increased by 20 to a total of 1,467 patients. There are 383 other people who have recovered.

“For update Covid-19 data today in North Sumatra positive patients as many as 1,467 people from the previous 1,447 people. Then 92 patients died and 383 people recovered, “Whiko said in Medan, Sunday (6/28).

Whiko explained that the area in North Sumatra with the highest corona case was Medan with 960 people. Of these, 58 died and 242 had recovered from Covid-19 infection.

After Medan, there is Deliserdang Regency with 188 positive patients. The patient died 14 people and recovered 61 people per Sunday (28/6).

“Furthermore, Simalungun Regency has 80 positive people, 2 people died and 18 people recovered. Then Pematangsiantar City has positive corona of 57 people, 3 died and 16 people recovered,” Whiko said.

There are 202 patients under surveillance (PDP) in North Sumatra and 1,102 people in monitoring (ODP).

Acting Mayor of Medan Akhyar Nasution admitted that co-19 positive patients in the city of Medan continued to increase in the last few days. The patients who tested positive were People without Symptoms (OTG).

“This June the number of positive patients with Covid-19 has increased. This is mostly derived from OTG which is then examined and the results are reactive, he does not feel symptoms of pain and continue to move as usual which ultimately transmits people nearby like family,” said Akhyar

According to Akhyar there are still many Medan residents who are reluctant to wear masks. In fact, almost 60 percent of Medan residents still do not comply with the use of masks. Lack of awareness of citizens using masks triggers more infections.

“So it is not just us who can prevent this transmission but also must be from the awareness of the community. Medan Government also continues to conduct raids on the use of masks in crowded places, bearing in mind that there are still many who do not yet have the awareness to use masks and apply health protocols,” Akhyar said .

At present, he continued, the Pemko Medan has prepared isolation rooms in two places including the P4TK building and the Lions Club Hospital. This isolation place is prepared for the community including OTG, ODP (monitoring person) and PP (travel agent) whose house is not suitable for isolation.

“We have prepared these two isolation sites even though until now this place has not been fully used,” he explained.
